The Regional Passport Office has launched a Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) of the State under the national e-governance initiative Passport Seva Project (PSP). The initiative will make it easy for the applicants and bring transparency into the processes.

The PSK was inaugurated by Joint Secretary in the Ministry or External Affairs Muktesh Kumar Pardeshi in the presence of Regional Passport Officer Padma Mahanti on Monday. The PSK, Bhubaneswar, is the 77th such centre in the country.

The PSK will render services within defined service levels, making availability of a portfolio of online application, real time tracking and enquiry facilities.
It would offer services like fresh passport applications, reissue and police verification clearance.

The applicants would have to take appointment through the website www.passportindia.gov.in, which would generate an application reference number for submission of their applications at the PSK.

As part of the PSP implementation, the PSK has also been equipped with a national call centre and help desk to cater to the various categories of services like information dissemination, grievances handling and citizen feedback. A toll free number 1800-258-1800 has been provided to the citizens for reaching the PSK call centre which can respond in 17 languages. The call centre functions round the clock.
The Regional Passport Office, Bhubaneswar, has issued 53,000 passports in 2011compared to 42,000 in 2007.
