According to sources, move is on to appoint the 1979 batch Haryana cadre IAS officer Ajit M Sharan as Additional Secretary Information Technology in the Government of India.

Since transfer of Shankar Agarwal to the Defence Ministry last month, the post has been lying vacant.
A Bachelor of Technology graduate from IIT Delhi in Electronics, Ajit has also done MBA from Louisiana State University besides a Masters degree in Development Economics. Currently he is serving as Principal Secretary (Power) in Haryana.
