Chandigarh Police has become tech savvy with the use of advanced technology such as Cell Dek and Portable Forensic Lab (PFL) machine for combating rising cyber crime in the city.

Machines recovering deleted SMSes, scanning suspected hard disk are some of the hi-tech gadgets used by the police in Chnadigarh. These devices help in retrieving deleted data.

A novel gadget – Faraday Bag is used by the police which makes the mobile unreachable when put inside a bag.

All these machines are handy and easy to carry. A Delhi-based distributor imported these gadgets from the US in May 2008.

Deputy Superintendent of Police KIP Singh said, “The Cell Dek machine can retrieve the call details of dialled numbers, received and missed calls from a mobile. Even the sent and received messages can be retrieved in three to six minutes depending on the data.”


These gadgets will make the Chandigarh Police self sustainable as they don't have to rely upon external agencies and laboratories.
