Chandigarh (India) has been adjudged as 'Leader' in the latest report on e-Readiness of the states and Uts in India. Recently, The Department of Information Technology (DIT), Government of India, has released this report after conducting a survey in association with the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER).

Last year the city had graduated from “Aspiring Leader” category to a “Leader” and as per the recent survey report. Even the city has also improved its positions in e-Readiness rankings after Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Maharastra. The e-Readiness index of an Indian state/UT reflects its capacity to participate in the global networked economy. Chandigarh's performance has been considered outstanding in the Environment Sub-Index, which measures the degree of conduciveness of the environment that a state/UT provides for the deployment and use of ICT.
