The Union Cabinet of India gave its approval for some approaches and key components of National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) proposals.

These are as follows:

>Assigning role / responsibility to various Government entities (DIT, NIC, DAR&PG, Line Ministries/ Departments & State Governments).

>Formal assigning of tasks of the identified Mission Mode Projects (MMPs) and support components under NeGP to various line ministries/departments.

>Programme management structure to be created for the NeGP including constitution of a body under the Chairpersonship of the Prime Minister.

>Implementation of the NeGP and its various MMPs/ components.

The Cabinet decision will give the following benefits / results.

>Clear definition of roles & responsibilities for implementation of e-Governance projects.

>Clear allocation of responsibility for individual projects to individual Ministry / State Departments.

>Adoption of the vision would enable NeGP to significantly improve delivery of services to citizens & businesses.

>Management of this complex programme in a systematic and professional manner.
