Building Satellite towns in Abuja to cost N37bn

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) informs that it will require N37.463 billion for the massive development and opening up of satellite towns in Abuja, Nigeria this year.
Out of this amount, ongoing development projects will gulp N18.793 billion; N16.67 billion is to be spent on new projects, while additional N2 billion has been earmarked for the take-off of Satellite Town Development Agency (STDA).
Some of the ongoing projects include N4 billion for the provision of engineering infrastructure to Kubwa Satellite Town (Districts 4 & 5); N4 billion for the provision of engineering infrastructure to Karshi Satellite Town Districts 1 & 2; N3.5 billion for the provision of engineering infrastructure to Bwari Satellite Town Districts 1 & 2; N1.248 billion for the construction of township roads in the six area councils; N1 billion for construction of Bwari – Kau Road, while N750 million is for extension of Karshi-Apo Road project.
The construction of Karshi-Ara Road is to gulp N630 million; N600 million for the provision of roads, water and electricity supplies in resettlement site of Galuwyi/Shere; N500 million for rehabilitation of road to Gwagwalada-Dobi-Izom; N400 million for the construction of Onex-Bwari Road; N400 million for the construction of 11km Mpape-Galuwyi/Shere Road; provision of 13km road to Kuje-Gaube, while N230.5 million is for the construction and rehabilitation of roads, drainages, flood control in Abaji, Gwagwalada, Kuje, and other satellite towns.
The contractors handling the projects include: Messrs SCC Nigeria Limited, Arab Contractors Nigeria Limited, Parsons Science Engineering Company, Petroline Global Solutions Limited, Mangrovetech Nigeria Limited, Abdec Nigeria Limited, Ndubueze Engineering Nigeria Limited, among others.
