First of its kind in India, the Union ministry of communications and IT has decided to set up a certification facility for software security products,in Kolkata, according to BJ Srinath, senior director of the ministry’s Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (Cert-In). It would be an important initiative for state governments and various government institutions as it will create security zones for the various e-governance applications, thereby curbing cyber crimes in e-governance.
