India expects to collect INR 350 billion from the auction of third-generation (3G) radio spectrum, scheduled to happen by December this year. The auction would allow telecoms firms to offer services such as high-speed Internet and video downloads on mobile phones. The government had initially aimed to get INR 200 billion.
In a first initiative by a municipal corporation in the country, the Chennai Corporation will provide SMS alerts on immunisation schedules to those women who are registered with its healthcare facilities.
