This issue of i4d magazine on agriculture and water could not have been more appropriate given the looming meteorological drought in India that has already affected about nine states.

Launched by the Delhi Chief Minister, Sheila Dikshit, amid much fanfare in February 2003, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) website – http://www.mcdonline.gov.in – shows stale information. A large amount of people’s money goes to the ECIL-SARK consortium that is responsible for maintaining the website. And still the website is outdated and poorly maintained. A lot of hue and cry was raised over it recently in its standing committee meeting.

A workshop was convened to establish Tanzania Parliamentary Network for ICT for Development (ParlNet ICT D Tanzania) simply dubbed BungeNet. The Cabinet has officially endorsed establishment of electronic-government (e-government), as part of the ambition to turn the country into a hub of information and communication technology in Africa. This initiative to be co-ordinated by the Public Service Department, would enable the government to collect and hold vast amounts of locally relevant information.
