Indian Railway plans for e-Procurement

The Indian Railways plans to move towards IT-based procurement for its high value procurements across all zones in a phased manner against the present practice of manual procurement.

The Indian Railways plans to move towards IT-based procurement for its high value procurements across all zones in a phased manner against the present practice of manual procurement.

The e-Procurement pilot project has been successfully implemented in Northern Railways and about 1,000 tenders have been processed through the e-Procurement process. This is, however, ten percent of the 10,000 tenders issued by Northern Railways. The project would now be extended to other Zonal Railways in a phased manner.
