
President Ram Nath Kovind approves the elevation of 12 top Jammu and Kashmir officers to the Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre. The move aimed at strengthening the integration of J&K to the mainstream came following the clearance from the Union Ministry of Home (MHA).
The notification issued by MHA said that the new IPS officers have been assigned the AGMUT cadre and will serve one year of probation from the date of the notification issued. “As per the Indian Police Service (Probation) Rules, 1954, the officers joining the IPS cadre will serve one year of probation period. Also, the officers will obtain induction training as per the sub-rule 5(4) of Indian Police Service (Probation) Rules,” the notification added.
The 12 officers from the J&K police cadre elevated to IPS cadre include:

The new appointments are notified to take effect immediately.
As per an ordinance issued on January 7 f the present year, the Government of India merged the J&K cadre of All India Services Officers such as the IAS, IPS and the Indian Forest Service (IFoS) with the AGMUT cadre. The move was later ratified by the Parliament on February 13.

With the new act, the officers of the All India Services posted in the Union Territories (UTs) of Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Puducherry, Dadra Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, Lakshadweep and Chandigarh and the three States of Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram and Goa now can be posted in the UTs of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh also. Meanwhile, officers from the J&K cadre can also be posted to the UT as well.
