Santosh Dattatraya Vaidya, a 1998-batch AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram-Union Territories) cadre IAS and former Prime Minister Office (PMO) official has been appointed as the new senior adviser to the executive director of the World Bank. This deputation at Washington DC is for a period of three years and is of a joint secretary level rank. He will replace LK Atheeq, a 1997-batch Karnataka cadre IAS.Vaidya is currently posted as joint secretary in the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. A B.Tech in instrumentation from IIT-Kharagpur, Vaidya who is originally from Maharashtra, started his career in Arunachal Pradesh as an additional deputy commissioner in West Siang district suring 2000-2001. Later, he became deputy commissioner in Lower Dibang Valley and West Siang districts respectively.
After that, he was posted in Goa Chief Minister’s secretariat between 2004 and 2007. He was also secretary to Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.
He served as Chief Executive Officer of Delhi Jal Board between 2007-2010. He was special secretary to Delhi chief minister in 2012-13 when Sheila Dikshit was the chief minister. Vaidya was a director in Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) between September 2013 and March 2016.
