Cisco forges deal in Gujarat for IoT, smart city solutions

US based technology major Cisco has inked two major agreements with International Centre for Entrepreneurship and Technology (iCreate) and Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (Gift City) for smart city services.


Cisco India and Gift will collaborate to provide public Wi-Fi, smart parking, smart transport, traffic analytics, smart kiosk and Remote Expert Government Services (REGS) in GIFT City near Gandhinagar. Not only this, Cisco will also use environmental sensors in Gift City.

A City Command and Control Centre will also be established to offer effective transportation system in Gandhinagar and the Gift City. Cisco, in collaboration with iCreate, will explore the setting up of an Internet of Things (IoT) Innovation Hub at the latter’s new campus at Dev Dholera, Gujarat to develop and support local innovation.

The innovation centre will enable startups and entrepreneurs to build smart city and IoT-based solutions. iCreate is an autonomous institute that aims to catalyse new age entrepreneurial pursuits of the youth.

Chaired by Additional Chief Secretary Industries and Mines Department, PK Taneja, iCreate’s Advisory Board is headed by Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy.
