The Rajasthan government has introduced a new digital initiative that allows consumers of Jaipur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (JVVNL) to access essential electricity services through WhatsApp, making utility services faster and more convenient.

The move is part of the state’s ongoing efforts to strengthen digital governance and improve citizen service delivery by integrating public services with the e-Mitra WhatsApp platform.
Key Electricity Services Now Available on WhatsApp
With the new facility, JVVNL consumers can access a range of services by sending a message to the official e-Mitra WhatsApp number. The platform enables users to:

- Register electricity-related complaints.
- Download their electricity bills.
- Track the status of registered complaints.
- Retrieve their K-number (consumer number).
The initiative aims to simplify access to utility services while reducing the need for consumers to visit electricity offices for routine requests.
Part of Rajasthan’s Digital Governance Push

The service has been developed jointly by the Department of Information Technology (DoIT), the e-Mitra team, and the Energy Department. According to officials, the integration is designed to make government services more accessible, transparent and user-friendly by leveraging a platform already widely used by citizens.
The government plans to gradually expand the WhatsApp platform to offer more than 100 citizen-centric services, creating a single digital gateway for a wide range of public services.

More Consumer Services to Be Added
Officials said work is already underway to include additional electricity-related services on the platform. Future updates are expected to allow consumers to apply for new electricity connections and access several other consumer-facing services directly through WhatsApp.
The expansion is intended to make interactions with the power utility more seamless while saving consumers time and reducing paperwork.
Focus on Citizen Convenience
The initiative reflects the Rajasthan government’s focus on using digital technology to improve public service delivery. By bringing electricity services to a familiar messaging platform, the government aims to make utility services more responsive, efficient and accessible for consumers across the state.
With the rollout of WhatsApp-based services, Rajasthan has taken another step towards building a more citizen-centric digital governance ecosystem, where essential services can be accessed quickly without the need for physical visits to government offices.
