New Delhi: In a bid to enhance road infrastructure management and address traffic congestion and pollution, the Delhi government is set to develop a comprehensive Road Asset Management System (RAMS). The initiative aims to create a digital inventory of road assets, enabling data-driven planning, maintenance, and monitoring of the city’s road network.
The proposed system will map and track critical road infrastructure, including carriageways, footpaths, drains, street furniture, signage, and other associated assets. By leveraging technology for real-time monitoring and maintenance planning, the government seeks to improve road conditions, streamline traffic movement, and reduce vehicular emissions caused by congestion.

Officials said the platform will facilitate better coordination among departments responsible for road construction and upkeep while ensuring timely repairs and efficient resource allocation. The move is expected to support Delhi’s broader efforts to build smarter, safer, and more sustainable urban infrastructure.
The Road Asset Management System is also envisioned as a tool to enhance transparency and accountability in road maintenance, contributing to improved commuter experience and urban mobility across the national capital.
