Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh AI & Health Innovation Conference 2026, held on 12–13 January 2026 in Lucknow, brought together policymakers, technology leaders, healthcare experts, startups, and industry stakeholders to discuss the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in healthcare and governance. The inaugural session featured Shri Sunil Kumar Sharma, Hon’ble Minister for IT and Electronics, Government of Uttar Pradesh, who outlined the state’s vision for building a technology-driven and innovation-led ecosystem.

Addressing the gathering, the Minister highlighted the growing significance of AI and digital technologies in strengthening healthcare delivery and enabling broader socio-economic transformation. He emphasised that technology-driven solutions can play a vital role in ensuring accessible, affordable, and quality healthcare services, particularly for rural and underserved communities.

The conference served as a platform for discussions around digital health, telemedicine, AI-enabled healthcare systems, and innovation-led public service delivery. Deliberations focused on how emerging technologies can support more efficient healthcare management and improve citizen-centric services.

Highlighting Uttar Pradesh’s technology roadmap, Sharma spoke about the state’s efforts to create a strong AI ecosystem through the development of Centers of Excellence in AI in cities such as Noida, Lucknow, and Gorakhpur. He also noted ongoing initiatives to strengthen digital infrastructure and create an enabling environment for startups and technology enterprises.

The Minister further underlined the importance of skilling and workforce development in the era of emerging technologies. Initiatives focused on AI, machine learning, and data analytics are expected to help equip students and young professionals with future-ready skills and support innovation-driven growth.

He also highlighted the role of strategic investments in strengthening the state’s digital infrastructure, including initiatives around data centres, technology parks, and advanced technology ecosystems aimed at accelerating Uttar Pradesh’s digital transformation journey.

The conference witnessed participation from government leaders, healthcare professionals, industry representatives, startups, and researchers, creating opportunities for dialogue and collaboration around AI-led healthcare innovation.

The event reinforced Uttar Pradesh’s broader vision of leveraging technology for inclusive development and positioning the state as a hub for AI innovation, digital governance, and future-ready healthcare systems.
