In a major boost to India’s tax administration modernisation drive, LTIMindtree has secured a ₹3,000 crore contract from the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) to develop an advanced, AI-driven national tax analytics platform.

The seven-year project will focus on transforming how tax data is processed and analysed in the country. Using artificial intelligence, machine learning, and modern digital architecture, the platform is expected to generate real-time insights that can help policymakers, tax officials, and enforcement agencies make faster and more informed decisions.

Announcing the deal, LTIMindtree said the programme will support the digital transformation of India’s tax ecosystem by strengthening data integration, analytics, and decision-support systems. The initiative is aimed at improving efficiency, transparency, and accuracy in tax administration.

This is the second major government project won by LTIMindtree this financial year. Earlier, the company had secured a ₹792 crore contract from the Income Tax Department for the PAN 2.0 project. That programme is focused on upgrading taxpayer registration systems and re-engineering PAN and TAN services to provide seamless digital experiences.

The latest CBDT contract is seen as a significant milestone for LTIMindtree CEO and Managing Director Venu Lambu, who has been pushing for large, multi-year digital transformation deals to drive growth amid a challenging global IT spending environment.

The company has been actively expanding its order book. In recent months, it has signed several high-value contracts, including a $100 million deal with a US chemicals company, a $450 million project with an agribusiness major, and a $580 million engagement with a global media and entertainment firm.

Industry experts note that IT service providers are increasingly focusing on large efficiency-driven projects, especially in government and enterprise transformation, as global clients tighten discretionary spending. Mid-tier technology firms like LTIMindtree are particularly well-placed to benefit from this trend due to their flexibility and competitive pricing.

The CBDT project is expected to play a crucial role in strengthening India’s tax governance framework by enabling smarter analytics, better compliance monitoring, and data-driven policy formulation.
