Lucknow, January 12: To expand AI education and digital capabilities across Uttar Pradesh, an MoU was signed between the India AI Mission and the Government of Uttar Pradesh at the Uttar Pradesh AI & Health Innovation Conference, being held in Lucknow.

The MoU was exchanged by Abhishek Singh, IAS, Director General, National Informatics Centre (NIC) and Additional Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, and Anurag Yadav, IAS, Principal Secretary, Information Technology and Electronics Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh.

To democratise access to quality AI education, the India AI Mission will set up 570 data and AI labs in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities across the country, including 62 labs in Uttar Pradesh. These labs will be established in government ITIs and polytechnic institutes and will provide hands-on exposure to AI tools, datasets, and problem-solving environments through coordinated efforts of the Centre and the State.

Delivering the welcome address, Anurag Yadav, IAS, Principal Secretary, Information Technology and Electronics Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh, said the two-day conference aims to turn the vision of a healthy, prosperous, and energetic state and country into reality. He said the outcomes of the discussions and deliberations would be action-oriented and help generate scale and momentum in the sector.

He added that while India has made significant progress over the past 75 years, considerable work remains in improving healthcare outcomes. Citing global indices, he noted that healthcare continues to be an area where India faces challenges, and artificial intelligence holds immense potential to address these gaps.
