Tata Power has launched the Energy Insights & Innovation Lab, a dedicated centre aimed at advancing research, data analytics and technology development to support India’s ongoing clean energy transition. The initiative was announced on December 27, 2025, with company officials highlighting its role in boosting sustainable energy solutions across the country.

The lab will focus on harnessing data intelligence, advanced analytics and emerging technologies to optimise renewable energy integration, grid management and resource forecasting. Tata Power said this facility is designed to help accelerate the adoption of clean energy, improve operational efficiency, and enhance decision-making across its generation and distribution networks.

According to the company, the Energy Insights & Innovation Lab will collaborate with internal teams and external partners to explore new approaches for energy storage, demand response, predictive maintenance and digital modelling of power systems. The centre is expected to play a key role in identifying solutions that can support large-scale renewable integration and reduce carbon emissions in line with national climate goals.

Tata Power has been expanding its renewable energy portfolio in recent years, adding solar and wind capacity while modernising grid infrastructure. The company’s move comes as India pushes to increase its share of clean power in the national energy mix and strengthen its energy security through innovation and technology adoption.

A senior Tata Power official said, “The Energy Insights & Innovation Lab will help us leverage data and technology to not only optimise current operations but also anticipate future challenges in the clean energy landscape.”

With the new lab now operational, Tata Power plans to undertake pilot projects that integrate advanced analytics with real-time energy management. The company said the initiative will also support research partnerships and knowledge exchange with academic institutions, technology firms and industry stakeholders to further India’s clean energy ambitions.
