The Punjab government has reiterated its commitment to transform the state into a preferred destination for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), Minister Sanjeev Arora said on Friday.

Addressing business representatives and industry stakeholders, Arora highlighted that the state is working to strengthen its policy framework and enhance support systems for MSMEs. He said efforts are underway to simplify regulatory processes and improve the ease of doing business to attract greater investment into the sector.

Officials said the government is planning targeted interventions to support MSMEs, including access to credit, infrastructure development, and skill development programmes. These measures aim to help small and medium firms grow, create jobs and contribute more significantly to the state economy.

The minister noted that Punjab has rich potential in traditional manufacturing, agro-based industries and emerging sectors, and that a stable policy environment can help local enterprises expand their reach in domestic and international markets.

Sanjeev Arora said, “We want Punjab to be seen as a business-friendly state where MSMEs can thrive with the right support, access to resources and opportunities for growth.”

The government is expected to soon roll out updated guidelines and incentives for the MSME sector, following consultations with industry associations and investment partners. Stakeholders said the renewed focus could help boost competitiveness and spur economic activity in the region.
