Rajasthan’s first-ever Pravasi Rajasthani Divas 2025 (Expatriate Rajasthan Day) 2025 opened with a grand inaugural ceremony at the JECC Auditorium, drawing prominent leaders, global investors and Non-Resident Rajasthanis (NRRs) from across continents. The event, held under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, highlighted Rajasthan’s expanding economic ambitions and its intent to position the diaspora at the heart of its development story. The inauguration saw the presence of Governor Hari Bhau Bagade, Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, Union Ministers Piyush Goyal, Bhupendra Yadav, C.R. Paatil, Bhagirath Choudhary, and leading industrialists including Anil Agarwal and Praveer Sinha.

Addressing the gathering, Governor Bagade urged NRRs to “repay their debt to the motherland” through investment and collaboration, stressing that the diaspora has historically strengthened the state’s socio-economic fabric. Invoking cultural roots and the state’s tradition of devotion and resilience, he said Rajasthan is no longer an arid land but a rapidly transforming region poised for global engagement. He assured returning investors of time-bound support in land, manpower and infrastructure, emphasising the state’s commitment to enterprise and youth-led growth.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal underlined Rajasthan’s powerful demographic dividend and described the state as a blend of tradition and modernity. He said decisive leadership and reliability have become Rajasthan’s identity, adding that over ₹35 lakh crore worth of MoUs have already been signed, with a significant share grounded. The ‘Rising Rajasthan’ initiative and the new diaspora outreach, he said, together form a strong pipeline for future investment. Goyal reaffirmed the belief that Rajasthan, backed by its youth and global diaspora, is well on its way to emerging as India’s top-performing state.

Chief Minister Sharma welcomed NRRs, calling the celebration a “confluence of culture, tradition and global identity.” Announcing 14 new chapters of the Rajasthan Foundation — nine overseas and five within India — he said the government is committed to nurturing stronger cultural and economic bonds. The newly launched Department of National and International Expatriate Rajasthan Affairs and the release of the ‘Expatriate Rajasthan Policy’ marked a significant step in institutionalising diaspora engagement. Sharma listed key achievements over the last two years, including the grounding of projects worth ₹8 lakh crore, expansion of solar capacity, major strides in transport, logistics and industry, and the creation of thousands of jobs.

Industry leaders echoed optimism about Rajasthan’s trajectory. Gulab Chand Kataria cited the diaspora’s historical role in supporting the state during crises and praised ongoing infrastructure expansion. Industry Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore pointed to policy reforms and industrial park development, calling this “the right time” for investment. Vedanta’s Anil Agarwal announced plans to establish the country’s largest fertilizer plant in Rajasthan, while Tata Power CEO Praveer Sinha highlighted the state’s unparalleled renewable energy potential of nearly 1,000 GW in solar and wind.

A special message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the state for hosting the historic event. Groundbreaking ceremonies for projects worth ₹1 lakh crore were conducted, and a coffee table book, Commitment in Action, documenting progress under the Rising Rajasthan initiative, was released.

Nine distinguished global achievers were honoured with the ‘Expatriate Rajasthan Samman’, recognising their contributions to industry, philanthropy and Rajasthan’s global identity. The event saw participation from senior ministers, lawmakers, industry delegations and NRRs from various countries, marking a landmark moment in Rajasthan’s global outreach strategy.
