Expatriate Rajasthan Day

Rajasthan projected its growing ambition to become a national leader in knowledge-driven development as the state marked Expatriate Rajasthan Day 2025 with a special session on “Opportunities, Investment, and Challenges in the Education Sector” at JECC, Sitapura. Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said Non-Resident Rajasthanis (NRRs) have demonstrated exceptional talent worldwide, and their experience can play a pivotal role in shaping world-class opportunities for the state’s youth. He urged the diaspora to connect their skills and entrepreneurship with the development journey of their homeland, reinforcing Rajasthan’s aspirations to stand at the forefront of India’s education and innovation landscape.

The Chief Minister stressed that education remains central to national progress, remarking that in the 21st century, “knowledge itself is capital,” preparing youth for global competition. He underlined education, skill, innovation, and research as the four pillars of a modern economy, noting that Rajasthan is advancing rapidly across all these domains. He detailed several initiatives aimed at expanding opportunities for young people, including the TechBee Early Career Program and the expanded i-Start programme promoting student entrepreneurship. Policies such as the Startup Policy, Atal Innovation Studio & Accelerator, AVGC-XR Policy, and the Centre for Advanced Skilling were highlighted as enablers of job creation and innovation.

Sharma said the state has witnessed unprecedented expansion in its education infrastructure over the past two years, including the establishment of 71 new government colleges, 21 new polytechnic institutions, and inauguration of 177 new college buildings. Government schools have undergone large-scale transformation with improvements in cleanliness, infrastructure, smart classrooms, digital libraries, and distribution of science-mathematics kits. He called upon NRRs to explore investment opportunities in the state’s favourable policy environment and to contribute to strengthening educational infrastructure in their ancestral villages.

Presiding over the session, Union Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav said Rajasthan has historically been a pioneer in education, with Ajmer, Pilani and Kota achieving national recognition in school, technical and coaching education respectively. He emphasized that the National Education Policy envisions developing students as “personalities,” not merely “products,” and Rajasthan is placing strong emphasis on character-building and nurturing human values.

Deputy Chief Minister Prem Chand Bairwa stated that the National Education Policy is driving transformative change across the state’s education framework, steering Rajasthan firmly toward a knowledge-based economy. Education Minister Madan Dilawar added that education rooted in values builds responsible citizens and urged NRRs and philanthropists to invest in the sector, calling education “an investment in the country’s future.” Minister of State for Rural Development Ota Ram Dewasi thanked philanthropists for strengthening the state’s educational ecosystem and urged continued cooperation.

A presentation by Additional Chief Secretary of Higher and Technical Education Kuldeep Ranka showcased ongoing reforms, including initiatives such as Mukhyamantri Shikshit Rajasthan Abhiyan, Prakhar Rajasthan, multilingual education efforts, AI-driven tools to improve learning outcomes, and the Shala Swasthya Parikshan Abhiyan. Principal Secretary School Education Krishna Kunal appealed to philanthropists to support reconstruction of school buildings damaged during the monsoon.
