Energy Maharatna Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has appointed Bhaskar Chowdary Nettem as Director (Production) on its Board. He has assumed charge of the position, bringing more than three decades of experience in the company’s oil and gas operations.
Tenure Till September 2029
Nettem’s appointment followed a letter issued by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas on September 21 and was subsequently approved by the ONGC Board.
He will remain in the position until September 30, 2029, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Over 30 Years With ONGC
A Mechanical Engineer, Nettem began his career with ONGC in 1991 at the Mumbai High offshore oilfield. Over the years, he has worked across offshore and onshore operations, project execution, business development, international upstream activities and joint ventures.
He also holds a master’s degree in International Business, which he completed in 2006.
Experience Across Major Oil and Gas Projects
Nettem has been associated with feasibility studies for greenfield refinery projects at Kakinada and Barmer. He also contributed to the joint venture connected with production from the Mangala oilfields in Rajasthan and the commissioning of the Barmer-Bhogat heated crude oil pipeline.
His assignment with ONGC Videsh Ltd. (OVL) gave him experience in international upstream operations, including deepwater oilfields, business development and field development planning.
Leadership Across ONGC Assets
As Asset Manager of ONGC’s Assam Asset at Nazira, Nettem worked on maintaining and improving production from mature oil and gas fields.
He later held a leadership position at the Mumbai High Asset, where his responsibilities included production performance, asset integrity, project execution, field redevelopment and health, safety and environment initiatives.
New Responsibility at ONGC
As Director (Production), Nettem will oversee ONGC’s production-related operations. His experience across major assets, upstream projects and international operations will form part of his new responsibilities as he takes charge of the company’s production portfolio.
