Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has approved financial assistance of nearly ₹5 crore for a range of development projects across the state. The sanctioned funds will support temple restoration and beautification, road construction, rural infrastructure, wildlife protection measures, and sports facilities in several districts.
The initiatives are aimed at preserving the state’s religious heritage while improving public infrastructure and connectivity in both urban and rural areas.
Major Push for Temple Development
A significant share of the approved funds has been allocated for the renovation and beautification of prominent temples across Uttarakhand.
In Pauri Garhwal, the government has sanctioned ₹72.67 lakh for the beautification of Maa Bal Kunwari Mata Temple at Kathud Bada in the Yamkeshwar Assembly constituency, with the first installment of ₹43.60 lakh released.
For the Mahabgarh Temple in Dugadda block, ₹1.69 crore has been approved, including an initial release of ₹1.02 crore to begin the project.
In Pithoragarh, the government has approved ₹1.42 crore for developing Shri Harichand Devta Temple under a master plan in Didihat, with the first installment of ₹85.08 lakh released.
Additional funding has also been sanctioned for the beautification of Nanda Devi Temple at Milam in Pithoragarh and Guru Gorakhnath Temple in Salt, Almora. The government has further approved the release of the remaining ₹39.31 lakh for the ongoing beautification work at Mostamanu Temple in Didihat.
Road and Rural Infrastructure Projects
Apart from religious sites, the state government has also approved funding for improving road connectivity and village infrastructure.
In Champawat, ₹79.44 lakh has been sanctioned for the construction of the Tamli–Rupaligad–Seem motor road, with ₹47.66 lakh released as the first installment.
For Silkot Gram Panchayat in Tehri Garhwal, the government has approved ₹93.85 lakh for protective fencing and safety walls to reduce damage caused by wild animals, along with the construction of a cement concrete pathway connecting Nakil Nala to the village well. The first installment of ₹56.31 lakh has been released for the project.
Support for Sports Infrastructure
The Chief Minister has also approved ₹5 lakh in financial assistance to the Uttaranchal Press Club in Raipur, Dehradun, for the purchase of sports equipment. The initiative is expected to encourage sporting activities and improve recreational facilities for media professionals.
Focus on Heritage and Balanced Development
The latest approvals reflect the Uttarakhand government’s focus on preserving the state’s cultural and religious heritage while investing in essential infrastructure and community welfare.
Officials believe the projects will improve facilities at important temples, strengthen road connectivity in remote areas, enhance safety for rural communities affected by wildlife, and create better public amenities across multiple districts.
With these investments, the state aims to support tourism, improve local infrastructure, and promote balanced regional development while safeguarding Uttarakhand’s rich cultural legacy.
