Chacko Mazhuvanchery Jose has been recommended for the post of Director (Refineries) at Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), a Maharatna public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
The recommendation was made by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) following its selection meeting held on August 21, 2026. Jose is currently serving as Executive Director, Kochi Refinery, BPCL.
Jose Selected From 12 Candidates
Jose was recommended for the position after being interviewed along with 11 other candidates by the PESB selection panel.
The candidate pool included senior executives from BPCL, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) and Engineers India Limited (EIL).
His recommendation will now be subject to the applicable government approval process before he formally takes charge.
Extensive Experience in Refinery Operations
Jose brings more than 35 years of experience in the petroleum refining sector.
During his career with BPCL, he has worked across three refineries in India and handled responsibilities covering operations, technical services, projects, energy management and environment management.
Before his current assignment at Kochi Refinery, Jose headed BPCL’s Bina Refinery in Madhya Pradesh.
Strong Academic Background
Jose is a Chemical Engineering graduate from Government Engineering College, Thrissur.
He also holds an MBA from Cochin University of Science and Technology, combining technical expertise in refinery operations with management experience.

As Director (Refineries), Jose will be responsible for overseeing the company’s refinery operations and supporting the safe and efficient functioning of its refining assets.
