The Odisha government has carried out a minor administrative reshuffle, transferring two Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers and assigning them new responsibilities in the tribal welfare and healthcare sectors. The latest postings are aimed at strengthening governance and improving the functioning of key departments.
The reshuffle includes the appointment of Dr Poma Tudu as Additional Secretary in the ST & SC Development, Minorities & Backward Classes Welfare Department, while Smita Pani has been named Managing Director of the Odisha State Medical Corporation Limited (OSMCL).
Dr Poma Tudu Gets New Responsibility
Dr Poma Tudu (IAS:2012) has been transferred from her role as Managing Director, Odisha State Medical Corporation Limited (OSMCL) and appointed Additional Secretary in the ST & SC Development, Minorities & Backward Classes Welfare Department.
In her new role, she will contribute to the implementation of programmes aimed at the welfare and development of Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, minorities and backward classes across the state.
She will also continue to hold her additional responsibilities as Commissioner, Food Safety, Odisha, and Managing Director, TDCCOL, ensuring continuity in these important assignments.
Smita Pani Takes Charge of OSMCL
Smita Pani (IAS:NSCS:2020) has been appointed as the Managing Director of the Odisha State Medical Corporation Limited (OSMCL).
Prior to this assignment, she was serving in the General Administration & Public Grievance (GA&PG) Department.
As the head of OSMCL, she will oversee the procurement, supply and distribution of medicines, medical equipment and other essential healthcare supplies to government hospitals and health institutions across Odisha.

Strengthening Welfare and Healthcare Administration
The latest transfer orders reflect the Odisha government’s continued focus on deploying experienced officers in key administrative positions. With Dr Poma Tudu taking on a senior role in the tribal welfare department while retaining important additional responsibilities, and Smita Pani assuming charge of OSMCL, the government aims to further strengthen policy implementation and public service delivery in both the welfare and healthcare sectors.
The transfer orders have come into effect immediately.
