Suresh Babu has assumed charge as Chairman and Managing Director of Bharatiya Nabhikiya Vidyut Nigam Limited, a public sector undertaking under the Department of Atomic Energy.
BHAVINI is responsible for the construction, commissioning and operation of fast breeder reactors, a key component of India’s three-stage nuclear power programme. Its flagship project, the 500 MWe Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor (PFBR) at Kalpakkam in Tamil Nadu, is at an advanced stage of development.

Suresh Babu brings extensive experience in nuclear power operations, engineering and project management. Over the years, he has been associated with key nuclear energy projects and has held leadership roles within the sector, contributing to India’s indigenous nuclear capabilities.
As CMD, Babu is expected to oversee the completion and operationalisation of ongoing projects, particularly the PFBR, and guide future expansion plans. His appointment is seen as important for advancing India’s nuclear energy goals and strengthening clean energy capacity.
