The India AI Impact Summit 2026 has witnessed strong global endorsement, with more than 70 countries signing the summit declaration, Union Minister for Electronics and IT Ashwini Vaishnaw announced on Friday.
Rising Global Support for India’s AI Vision
Vaishnaw noted that the previous edition of the summit had around 60 signatories, whereas this year the figure has already crossed 70, with discussions still underway with several participating nations. He expressed optimism that the final count would surpass 80, describing the response as a strong endorsement of India’s AI initiatives.
He added that the complete list of signatories and the final declaration would be released at the close of the summit.
Investment Commitments Surge Past $250 Billion
The summit has also attracted substantial financial commitments. According to the minister, infrastructure-related investments linked to AI initiatives have crossed $250 billion, while venture capital and deep-tech investment commitments have exceeded $20 billion.
Vaishnaw emphasised that beyond the numbers, the investments reflect global trust in India’s role as a key player in shaping the future of AI-driven innovation and development.
A Major Platform for AI Collaboration
The event has drawn participation from policymakers, industry leaders, and researchers worldwide, with more than five lakh visitors attending the exhibition. A central focus of the discussions has been the development of AI guardrails—frameworks to ensure the responsible and ethical use of artificial intelligence.
India Moves Toward AI Mission 2.0
Looking ahead, the government is preparing to launch AI Mission 2.0, which Vaishnaw described as more ambitious than its predecessor. He highlighted that several targets under AI Mission 1.0 have already been achieved, including surpassing the goal of deploying 10,000 GPUs, with the country now exceeding 38,000 GPUs and another 20,000 expected to be added soon.

Strengthening India’s Role in Global AI Governance
The India AI Impact Summit 2026 has emerged as one of the largest global gatherings dedicated to AI applications across sectors such as infrastructure, healthcare, agriculture, and public services. By bringing together governments, academia, and industry, the summit aims to shape international cooperation, innovation, and governance frameworks for artificial intelligence.
With rising global participation and investment commitments, India is positioning itself at the forefront of AI research, deployment, and policy-making—an effort aligned with its broader goal of building an inclusive and future-ready digital economy.
