Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India views artificial intelligence as a driver of opportunity and growth rather than a source of concern, while addressing delegates on Day 4 of the India AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam.

Speaking at the global gathering, the Prime Minister emphasised that AI must remain accessible and inclusive. He called for the democratisation of technology so that people are empowered by AI rather than reduced to mere data points, stressing that its benefits should reach all sections of society, particularly countries in the Global South.
Modi described artificial intelligence as a transformative moment comparable to key turning points in human history that reshape development and civilisation. He noted that AI is not only making machines smarter but also enhancing human capabilities, adding that the real challenge lies in how societies use the technology responsibly.

Highlighting India’s readiness to lead in this domain, the Prime Minister pointed to the country’s large young population and deep technology talent pool. He said India is building a tech-enabled ecosystem that can harness AI for inclusive development and broader social welfare.
