Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday gave a major boost to infrastructure development in Khatima by inaugurating and laying foundation stones for nine projects worth ₹33.36 crore. The initiatives cover transport facilities, water supply, roads, public buildings, and community amenities aimed at improving the quality of life for local residents.
A key highlight of the event was the inauguration of the newly built Maharana Pratap High-Tech Bus Station. Constructed by the District Development Authority at a cost of ₹11.27 crore, the facility is equipped with modern passenger amenities and is expected to significantly improve public transport services in the region.
Calling it a milestone project for Khatima, CM Dhami said the bus station would enhance connectivity, support local businesses, and promote tourism. He added that the project, which had been pending for several years, was completed through consistent monitoring and effort. The inauguration coincided with the auspicious festivals of Makar Sankranti and Ghughutia, adding to the occasion’s importance.
Along with transport infrastructure, the Chief Minister announced several initiatives aimed at strengthening religious and community facilities. Beautification works were sanctioned for the Balaji Temple in Nanakmata and the Brahmadev Temple near Lohiya Bridge. The Devbhoomi Dharamshala will also be upgraded with additional rooms, a new hall, and overall improvements to better serve pilgrims and visitors.
In the area of civic infrastructure, multiple water supply and sanitation projects were launched. Tube wells, overhead tanks, and pipelines worth ₹48.45 lakh were inaugurated in wards 7 and 8 to improve access to clean drinking water. Drainage works costing ₹2.25 crore were completed in Majhola village to tackle waterlogging and improve sanitation.
Connectivity in rural and semi-urban areas will also get a boost through the development of the Sonukhari–Kishanpur–Barkidandi–Kaithula–Tukdi road as a hot-mix route, aimed at providing smoother and safer travel for commuters.
Administrative infrastructure was another focus area. Residential buildings for revenue inspectors and sub-inspectors were inaugurated in the Nanakmata assembly constituency at a cost of ₹4.90 crore, along with new office buildings worth ₹3.59 crore to strengthen governance at the local level.
