The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has approved the development of the Jhansi Link Expressway at an estimated cost of ₹7,968.30 crore. The project is aimed at strengthening connectivity in Bundelkhand and improving access to key industrial areas.
The expressway will provide improved connectivity to the Bundelkhand Industrial Development Authority (BIDA) area, the Defence Corridor and important locations around Jhansi. It is expected to facilitate faster movement between these areas and other parts of Uttar Pradesh and the country.
The entire estimated project expenditure will be borne by the state government. No financial participation from the Central Government is proposed or expected for the project.

Following the Cabinet approval, steps will be taken to commence construction at the earliest. The government plans to complete the project within a defined timeline so that the region can benefit from improved connectivity.
The project is also expected to support the development of BIDA and the Defence Corridor by improving road access for industries and logistics. Better connectivity could facilitate investment, industrial activity and trade in the region, while the construction and subsequent economic activity are expected to generate direct and indirect employment opportunities.
