The Government of Nagaland has appointed Sentiyanger Imchen, a 1991‑batch IAS officer of the Nagaland cadre, as the state’s next Chief Secretary. He will take charge on August 1, 2025, following the superannuation of Dr J Alam on July 31, 2025.
Imchen, currently serving as Additional Chief Secretary and Finance Commissioner, is set to hold the post until January 2027, when he retires at the age of 60.
With nearly three decades of administrative experience in Nagaland, Imchen brings a wealth of institutional knowledge. He has repeatedly served as Commissioner of Nagaland—holding that position during 2015–May 2018 and again from May 2020 to September 2020—demonstrating his experience in high‑level governance.

Imchen’s steady climb through critical administrative positions—including Finance Commissioner—reflects broad expertise in fiscal management and state governance. His elevation to Chief Secretary underscores Nagaland’s commitment to continuity and seasoned leadership at the administrative apex.
