Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the 20th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme on 2 August 2025 from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, disbursing ₹20,500 crore directly into the bank accounts of nearly 9.7 crore farmers across the country.

According to an official statement by the Ministry of Agriculture, the upcoming installment will be launched during a special programme in the Prime Minister’s parliamentary constituency. The event also marks the completion of over five years of the flagship scheme.

Since its inception in 2019, the PM-Kisan scheme has transferred ₹3.69 lakh crore through 19 installments, benefiting crores of farming families across India. The scheme provides eligible farmers with ₹6,000 annually, disbursed in three equal installments of ₹2,000 every four months. Funds are directly credited to beneficiaries’ bank accounts to ensure transparency and timely support.

Ahead of the release, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan chaired a review meeting at Krishi Bhavan, New Delhi. The meeting was attended by Agriculture Secretary Devesh Chaturvedi, ICAR Director General M. L. Jat, and heads of over 731 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), who joined virtually.

To receive the 20th installment, beneficiaries must have completed e-KYC, linked their Aadhaar with bank accounts, and ensured that their land records are updated. These measures are intended to eliminate ineligible claims and enhance scheme effectiveness.

PM-Kisan remains a cornerstone of India’s rural financial inclusion strategy, reinforcing the Centre’s commitment to farmer welfare, income support, and agricultural resilience.
