IPS Transfer

In a significant administrative move, the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government has ordered the transfer of seven Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, assigning them new responsibilities across the state. The reshuffle is aimed at boosting policing efficiency, improving surveillance, and strengthening investigative and technical capabilities within the force.

Key IPS Appointments:

  • Jitendra Rana (2005 batch): Appointed as Inspector General of Police (IG), Central Region. Previously awaiting posting, Rana will now oversee law enforcement across Bihar’s central zone, including Patna.

  • Rakesh Rathi (2002 batch): Posted as IG, Special Branch. He will now lead Bihar’s internal intelligence and surveillance operations.

  • Garima Malik (2006 batch): Transferred from IG, Central Region to IG, Vigilance. She will now focus on anti-corruption efforts and administrative oversight.

  • S. Premalatha: Moved from IG, Vigilance to IG, Technical Services. She will head initiatives related to police modernization and infrastructure.

  • Manoj Kumar Tiwari (2012 batch): Appointed as Superintendent of Police (SP), Siwan. He was earlier serving as SP, CID.

  • Amitesh Kumar: Transferred from SP, Siwan to SP, Special Branch.

  • K. Ramdas (2019 batch): Former Assistant Director at Bihar Police Academy, appointed as SP, Crime Investigation Department (CID), taking charge of one of the state’s key investigative units.
