Shamsher Singh

In a notable move, senior IPS officer Dr. Shamsher Singh has been appointed as the Additional Director General (ADG) of the Border Security Force (BSF). The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) announced the appointment through an official order issued on Sunday.

Dr. Singh, who is currently the Director General of Police, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Gujarat, is set to assume his new role in the BSF. The appointment has been approved by the competent authority and will be effective from the date he assumes charge. His tenure will extend until his superannuation on March 31, 2026.

An officer of the 1991 batch of the Indian Police Service (IPS) from the Gujarat cadre, Dr. Singh is widely recognised for his dedication to law enforcement and his leadership in combating corruption during his tenure at the ACB. His transition to the BSF highlights his exemplary career in public service and his ongoing contribution to India’s internal and external security framework.

The BSF, tasked with safeguarding India’s international borders, is poised to gain from Dr. Singh’s extensive experience and proven leadership capabilities as he steps into this pivotal role.
