Union Minister for Communications and Minister for Development of North Eastern Region, Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia, laid the foundation stone for a new Head Post Office building in Ashoknagar, Madhya Pradesh. The ceremony, held at the Tulsi Sarovar premises, marks a pivotal moment in the transformation of postal services in the district, underscoring the government’s commitment to creating accessible, efficient, and citizen-centric infrastructure.

The new facility, estimated to cost ₹2.1 crore, is scheduled for completion within one year. It will incorporate state-of-the-art design and cutting-edge technology to provide an elevated customer experience. As the administrative centre for ten sub-post offices across the district, the modernised Head Post Office is envisioned to streamline operations, enhance service delivery, and cater to the evolving needs of the local population.


During his address at the ceremony, Shri Scindia emphasized the enduring importance of the Department of Posts in bridging communities and delivering essential services, particularly in rural and underserved areas. He highlighted the transformative role of postal services in fostering social and economic connectivity, stating that the initiative reflects the government’s dedication to ensuring that such services remain relevant, robust, and forward-looking in today’s dynamic landscape.

The event was attended by prominent officials, including Shri Vineet Mathur, Chief Postmaster General of Madhya Pradesh Circle, and Shri Pawan Kumar Dalmia, Director of Postal Services, along with other dignitaries, postal department officials, and a large number of residents. Their presence underscored the significance of this project as a step forward in the government’s broader mission to modernize public service infrastructure.


The new Head Post Office will integrate advanced technological amenities and provide a seamless and customer-friendly environment. From enabling quicker processing of postal operations to offering modernized facilities for financial and communication services, the facility is designed to be a cornerstone of India Post’s transformation journey. It will reflect the department’s ongoing commitment to adapting to changing societal needs while maintaining its legacy of trust and reliability.
