The Uttarakhand government and Tamil Nadu government have reshuffled key IPS officers in their respective states.
Uttarakhand
Dhirendra Singh Gunjiyal (2011 batch) has been appointed Assistant Inspector General of Police – Prisons. Previously on compulsory wait, Gunjiyal assumes this crucial role, marking a pivotal career transition. Yaswant Singh (2012 batch), who formerly held dual responsibilities as AIG – Prisons and Superintendent of Police (CID), has been reassigned solely as SP – CID.
Amit Srivastava (2012 batch), previously SP of Uttarkashi, takes charge as SP – Regional Intelligence. Mamta Vohra (2022 batch), earlier SP – Regional Intelligence, is now assigned as SP – Police Headquarters. Sarita Dobhal (2024 batch), who served as SP – Railways, has been appointed Superintendent.
Additionally, 14 PPS officers, including Harbans Singh and Jagdish Chandra, have been transferred, showcasing the government’s aim to enhance law enforcement efficiency.
Tamil Nadu
In a parallel administrative shake-up, the Tamil Nadu government reassigned four senior IPS officers to critical positions to strengthen law enforcement and governance.
Vanniyar Perumal (1992 batch), previously DGP of the Village Police Force, has been reappointed as DGP of Railways, assuming charge of safety across the state’s rail network. Rajeev Kumar (1992 batch), earlier DGP of Crimes Against Women and Children, takes over as DGP for Aavin, Chennai, a significant leadership shift.
Mallika (2006 batch), who was IG for Traffic and Road Safety in Chennai, now leads the Investigation Division at the State Human Rights Commission as IG, emphasizing the focus on human rights protection. Abhishek Dixit (2006 batch), promoted to IG, transitions from DIG of Railways to Traffic and Road Safety Division, reflecting his readiness for higher responsibilities.

Muthamil, previously SP in the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Department for Aavin, has been reassigned as SP of Civil Supplies CID in Chennai, furthering the government’s strategic realignments.
