In a major administrative reshuffle ahead of the upcoming Panchayat elections, the Punjab government transferred 49 officers, including 11 IAS and 38 PCS officers, on Wednesday. The transfers were made just hours before the model code of conduct for the Panchayat elections was to come into force.
Among the key appointments, Vijay Namdeorao Zade has been posted as Secretary, Expenditure in the Finance Department following his recent repatriation to Punjab. Gauri Prashar Joshi, who was awaiting a new posting, has been designated Special Secretary, Personnel and will also serve as Managing Director of PSIDC.
Other notable transfers include Gurpreet Singh Aulakh as the new Deputy Commissioner of Tarn Taran, Sanyam Aggarwal as Director of Higher Education, Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa as Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Bathinda, and Ankurjit Singh as Chief Administrator, Jalandhar Development Authority. This marks the third mass transfer of officers within a fortnight, signalling a significant overhaul of Punjab’s civil administration as the state prepares for the Panchayat elections.
