The Tamil Nadu Government on Monday, July 8, 2024, appointed Additional Director-General of Police (Law & Order) A. Arun as the new Commissioner of Police, Chennai, succeeding Director-General of Police Sandeep Rai Rathore. Mr. Rathore has been reassigned as DGP of the Police Training College in Chennai and will also hold the additional charge of Director at the Tamil Nadu Police Academy.

In Rajasthan, former DGP ML Lathar (Retd IPS: 1987: RJ) has been appointed as the Chief Information Commissioner.

Furthermore, in a series of significant appointments and reshuffles announced recently, Dr. Vibha Chahal (IAS: 2012: UP) has been appointed as Private Secretary to Shobha Karandlaje, Minister of State for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises and Labour & Employment, at the Deputy Secretary level until June 7, 2027.

Nidhi Khare (IAS: 1992: JH), currently Secretary of the Department of Consumer Affairs, has been given the additional charge of Secretary of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying from July 7 to July 14, 2024, during the leave period of Alka Upadhyaya (IAS: 1990: MP).

Also, ADGP, Headquarters, S. Davidson Devasirvatham was transferred and posted as the ADGP (Law & Order), as per a notice issued by the government.

In the Indian Information Service, a reshuffle saw seven officers assigned new roles. Notably, Dhirendra Ojha has been appointed Principal DG (Media & Communication), PIB, replacing Sheyphali B Sharan. Sharan will now serve as DG, Publication Division, New Delhi. Other key appointments include Y K Baweja as DG, Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), B Narayanan as DG, New Media Wing (NMW) with additional charge of Electronic Media Monitoring Centre (EMMC), and Pragya Paliwal Gaur as DG (M&C), PIB, overseeing the Research Unit.

Pushpinder Kaur has been named ADG (M&C), PIB, to manage the Election Commission of India, and Shruti Ojha has been appointed Assistant Director (News), DDK, Lucknow post her training at IIMC, New Delhi.
