Green Hydrogen Quality Control


The Union Ministry of New & Renewable Energy organised a day-long workshop titled “Quality Control in Green Hydrogen: Standards & Testing Infrastructure” at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan. The event aimed to foster a standardized ecosystem for Green Hydrogen production, emphasizing the importance of quality standards and testing facilities.

Key discussions centered on establishing clear quality standards for Green Hydrogen production processes and creating a network of testing facilities. These initiatives are pivotal for promoting Ease of Doing Business and expediting the transition towards clean energy.

During the workshop, the National Green Hydrogen Mission portal was unveiled, providing comprehensive information on the mission’s objectives and progress in India’s green hydrogen ecosystem development. The portal was jointly launched by Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood, Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India, and Shri Bhupinder S. Bhalla, Secretary of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.

Noteworthy reports on “Green Hydrogen Standards and Approval Systems in India” and “India’s Green Hydrogen Revolution” were presented, offering insights into the country’s initiatives in this field.

The workshop featured five panel discussions led by experts from technical institutions, regulators, and industry stakeholders. Topics included imperatives, challenges, and the way forward for the green hydrogen ecosystem, standards in hydrogen storage, electrolyser manufacturing, green hydrogen production plants, and applications.

The event witnessed the participation of around 300 stakeholders from various sectors, including ministries, PSUs, government agencies, industry, associations, research institutes, laboratories, and academia.
