In a move aimed at enhancing data management efficiency, Cloudera, a leading data company for trusted enterprise AI, has introduced Cloudera Flow Management – Kubernetes Operator and Cloudera Streaming – Kubernetes Operator. These innovations enable customers to deploy Apache NiFi, Apache Kafka, and Apache Flink clusters on Kubernetes application platforms like Red Hat OpenShift. The announcement signifies a significant step towards modernizing data deployments, allowing for dynamic scaling and optimized resource utilization.
With the upcoming Kubernetes Operators, customers can seamlessly implement end-to-end data streaming capabilities on their existing Kubernetes clusters. This includes benefits such as auto-scaling, efficient resource management, and simplified setup and operations. Cloudera’s Data-in-Motion offerings act as the connective tissue between enterprise data assets, delivering streaming data and real-time insights to various systems and applications.
Dipto Chakravarty, Chief Product Officer at Cloudera, expressed enthusiasm about the development, highlighting the immediate benefits for customers transitioning to Kubernetes operators. The move is expected to reduce operational overhead and enhance cluster management efficiency.

Red Hat, known for its commitment to open-source technologies across hybrid cloud environments, has welcomed the collaboration with Cloudera. Tushar Katarki, senior director of Product Management at Red Hat, emphasized the importance of deploying streaming pipelines to accelerate innovation projects and scale on Red Hat OpenShift.

Matthias Broecheler, CEO & Founder at DataSQRL, also commended Cloudera’s initiative, particularly praising the new Streaming Kubernetes Operator for simplifying the management of underlying technologies required for streaming data products and real-time AI applications.

The Data-in-Motion products, now available as Kubernetes Operators for Red Hat OpenShift, are currently in tech preview and expected to be generally available in the second half of 2024. Customers can download the binaries from Cloudera’s repository to install the Kubernetes Operator on their Red Hat OpenShift cluster and configure NiFi, Kafka, or Flink clusters according to their preferences.
