Ashok Ranjan Basu

Ashok Ranjan Basu, a former IAS officer hailing from the Himachal Pradesh cadre, has been appointed as the chairman of Research Committee No. 48 on Administrative Culture by the International Political Science Association (IPSA), headquartered in Montreal, Canada. Basu’s tenure in this role extends until 2028.

The committee, which engages in research pertaining to administrative systems, boasts a diverse membership comprising individuals from across the globe. Basu brings with him a wealth of experience, having previously served as a member of the Central Administrative Tribunal. Following his retirement, he transitioned into writing, with a focus on various facets of administration and law.

One of Basu’s notable works, titled Transparency, Accountability, Open Government, and e-governance, initially published in English, has recently undergone translations into six European languages, namely German, French, Russian, Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese.

Furthermore, Basu holds the distinction of being a Fellow of the Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland (FRAS), based in London. His professional journey also includes a stint as the Director of the Himachal Pradesh Institute of Public Administration, located in Fair Lawns, Shimla.
