Bharat Ratna

President Droupadi Murmu today conferred the prestigious Bharat Ratna award on four eminent personalities posthumously in a prestigious ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Among the recipients were socialist luminary Chaudhary Charan Singh, former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao, former Bihar Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur, and renowned agricultural scientist MS Swaminathan.

However, the fifth awardee, LK Advani, could not attend the ceremony due to illness. President Murmu, sources say, is expected to personally present the award to him at his residence tomorrow.

PV Prabhakar Rao, the son of Narasimha Rao, graciously accepted the award on behalf of his late father during the ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Similarly, Jayant Singh, grandson of Chaudhary Charan Singh and president of the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), received the honor on beRashtrapati Bhavanhalf of his grandfather from President Murmu.

The President also handed over the prestigious award to Nitya Rao, daughter of MS Swaminathan, and Ram Nath Thakur, son of Karpoori Thakur.

The event witnessed the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, and other prominent figures.
