Prime Minister Modi

In a monumental ceremony, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir on Monday, heralding it as the dawn of a new era. Thousands gathered outside the temple complex as Modi expressed his joy, stating, “Our Ram has arrived, ending centuries of anticipation.”

In a powerful speech, PM Modi emphasized cultural unity, declaring, “Ram is not a dispute. Ram is the solution.” The Prime Minister, breaking an 11-day religious fast, unveiled a statue of Lord Ram in a consecration watched by millions.

The Ram Mandir, designed by architect Chandrakant B Sompura, stands at 380 feet in length, 250 feet in width, and 161 feet in height. With 392 pillars and 44 doors, it showcases intricately sculpted depictions of Hindu deities across its three floors. The main sanctum sanctorum houses the idol of Shri Ram Lalla, and the temple boasts five halls dedicated to various purposes.

The temple’s unique construction approach avoids the use of steel or iron, aligning with traditional practices and emphasizing sustainability. The complex, surrounded by a 732-meter-long rectangular wall, features mandirs dedicated to revered figures like Maharshi Valmiki and Mata Shabri.

Notably, the project incorporates a 21-foot-high granite plinth for protection against ground moisture. The complex includes essential facilities such as a sewage treatment plant, water treatment plant, and a Pilgrims Facility Centre with medical and locker facilities. Emphasizing environmental conservation, 70% of the 70-acre area remains green.

The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra estimated a total expenditure of ₹1,800 crore for this architectural marvel, with ₹900 crore spent between February 5, 2020, and March 31, 2023. The Uttar Pradesh government, ensuring the event’s security, deployed over 13 thousand personnel in and around Ayodhya, setting up a monitoring center at Lata Mangeshkar Chowk.

As India celebrates the historic moment, the Ram Mandir stands as a symbol of cultural and spiritual significance, marking a chapter in the nation’s history.
