PM Modi emphasises India-UAE collaboration to shape greener future

PM Modi emphasises India-UAE

India is optimistic that COP28 hosted by UAE will induce a positive momentum in the climate action, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is in UAE currently to attend COP28. This is his sixth visit to UAE since he assumed the position of Indian Prime Minister.

Modi further mentioned that, “India and the UAE stand as partners in shaping a greener and more prosperous future, and we remain steadfast in our joint efforts to influence the global discourse on climate action.”

In order to help developing nations cope with climate change, he also advocated for providing them with sufficient financing and technology transfer.

“It is essential to recognise that developing countries have not contributed to the creation of the problem. Yet developing countries are willing to be a part of the solution. But, they cannot contribute without access to the financing and technology needed… I have therefore advocated strongly for global cooperation for ensuring requisite climate financing and technology transfer,” he said.

On Friday, as part of the United Nations “Conference of the Parties” on climate change, or COP28, Modi will be present at the World Climate Action Summit. The high-level portion of COP28 is called the World Climate Action Summit.

To explore strategies for cutting greenhouse gas emissions and successfully addressing climate change, a number of international leaders are in attendance at the climate action summit.

In addition, the prime minister is expected to take part in three other high-profile side events. Under the UAE’s presidency, the COP28 is set to take place from November 30 to December 12.
