In a significant administrative overhaul in Assam, the state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, carried out the transfer and posting of six IAS officers on July 22.

Varnali Deka, also a 2009 batch IAS officer, who was serving as the District Commissioner of Kokrajhar and holding positions of Director of Training at Bodoland Administrative Staff College, Kokrajhar, and Secretary of Bodoland Territorial Region, has been transferred and appointed as the District Commissioner of Nalbari. Biswajit Pegu, an IAS officer from the 2009 batch and the current District Commissioner of Dibrugarh, has been reassigned as the Secretary to the Government of Assam, Home and Political Department.

Another officer from the 2014 batch, Bikram Kairi (IAS), who was previously working as the Panchayat & Rural Development Commissioner and MD of Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin), has now been designated as the District Commissioner of Dibrugarh.

Pradeep Kumar Dwivedi, a 2019 batch IAS officer, and Additional District Commissioner, in charge of Bajali, have been reassigned as the District Commissioner of Kokrajhar and also as the Director of Training at Bodoland Administrative Staff College, Kokrajhar, and Secretary of Bodoland Territorial Region, in addition to their current responsibilities.


Jay Shivani, an IAS officer from the 2019 batch, previously serving as the Additional District Commissioner in charge of Biswanath, has been appointed as the Commissioner of Panchayat & Rural Development, Assam, and MD of Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin), in an additional capacity.

Neha Yadav, another 2019-batch IAS officer, and the Additional District Commissioner in charge of Bokakhat, has been transferred and assigned as the Additional District Commissioner, in charge of Biswanath.

Furthermore, Gitimoni Phukan (ACS), who was the District Commissioner of Nalbari, has been appointed as the Additional Secretary to the Government of Assam, Public Health Engineering Department, and also as the Additional Mission Director of Jal Jeevan Mission.

Mridul Kumar Das (ACS), previously serving as the Public Health Engineering Department Joint Secretary and Additional Mission Director of Jal Jeevan Mission, has been reassigned as the Additional District Commissioner, in charge of Bajali.
