No manual fitness test of vehicles in UP, automated testing stations to be set up

CM Yogi

Uttar Pradesh will no longer have manual fitness testing of vehicles. The state will now see automated testing stations being set up across the state. Orders regarding the same were issued on Wednesday, following a major decision taken in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday.

It was decided in the cabinet meeting that the fitness test of vehicles will not be done manually but by machines. It will be mandatory. For this, automated testing stations will be set up in every district of the state. ATS will be set up in every district on PPP mode. For this the state government will spend Rs 500 crore.

In the first phase, one ATS will be set up in every district of the state except the ones run under the state government. All the stations will be established in every district of the state in a year. It is to be known that the state government’s automated testing stations are proposed in Lucknow, Kanpur and Agra. At the same time, the number of these stations can also be increased if required in future.

With the establishment of stations, while road accidents in the state will come down on one hand, the process of testing vehicles will also be accelerated. Along with this, with transparency in testing, the possibility of irregularities will also be reduced.
