In order to provide employment to the migrant labourers who returned back to Madhya Pradesh due to lockdown, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh launched the ‘Rozgar Setu’ portal that will provide employment to these labourers as per their skills and efficiency.
All the migrant workers and their families have registered on the portal apart from employers who are seeking workers as they re-start economic activities after the relaxations announced by the Government of India.
According to a statement by the Government of Madhya Pradesh, 7,30,000 migrant labourers and 5,79,000 members of their families have been registered on the portal, taking the total to 13,10,000. However, as many as 5,246 employers have been registered on the portal seeking workers. On the very day of the inauguration of the portal, 79 labourers have been employed according to their skillset, added the statement.
The CM while launching the portal said, “Madhya Pradesh is the first Indian state which has completed the survey of all migrant labourers.”
Moreover, the State plans to hold ‘Rojgar Melas’ over the next two months to employ these workers besides ensuring that work opportunities are created under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee (MGNREG) scheme.
