Over 20,000 houses in Delhi labelled “home quarantine”, tweets LG

Anil Baijal, Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, on March 31, said that more than 20,000 houses have been labelled as “home quarantine” by the Government of Delhi in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.

The LG later tweeted that the Delhi government is working on increasing the number of food distribution centres to ensure social distancing in the national capital and food to all in need. “It has been decided to increase the number of food distribution centres from the present 500 to 2500 so that social distancing is adhered to effectively. Home quarantine has to be strictly monitored. More than 20,000 homes have been identified by GNCTD for home quarantine”, Baijal tweeted.

The LG held a meeting with Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister of Delhi; Chief Secretary Vijay Kumar Dev; and Police Commissioner through video conference to discuss measures to combat COVID-19.

Baijal, later on, responded in another tweet saying that the decision to increase the number of food distribution centre was taken following the reports stating that the social distancing norms have been violated while distributing food. He also asked the Government of Delhi to strictly follow the social distancing norms. Further, he asked the government to expedite actions to ramp up the medical facilities to cater to the growing needs.
