Nripendra Misra to head Ram temple construction committee

Prime Minister’s former Principal Secretary Nripendra Misra has been elected as the head of Ram temple construction committee of the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Tirth Kshetra Trust. The election took place yesterday as part of the first meeting of the temple trust.

Misra, a retired 1967-Batch IAS officer was also appointed as the Chairman of Nehru Memorial Museum and Library by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

Mahant Nritya Gopal Das was elected as the President and Champat Rai as the General Secretary of the trust. Swami Govind Dev Giri was appointed the duty of treasurer of the trust at the meeting. The meeting was conducted at the residence of K Parasaran, a senior lawyer.

Gyanesh Kumar, Additional Secretary to Home Ministry, other representatives from the central government, Avinash Awasthy a representative of the state government and Ayodhya District Magistrate Anuj Kumar Jha were also present at the meeting.

The Indian Prime Minister had announced the formation of a 15-member trust in Parliament on February 5. The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra Trust, which was formed in compliance with the Supreme Court’s verdict on Ayodhya dispute case, comprises of seven members of which five are nominated and three are trustees. The trust was formed in November 2019.

Parasaran was named as the head of the Trust and its other members are Jagatguru Shankracharya, Jyothishpeethadheeshwar Swami Vasudevanand Saraswati Ji Maharaj from Allahabad, Jagatguru Madhavacharya Swami Vishwa Prasannatheerth Ji Maharaj, Udupi’s Pejawar Math, Yugpurush Paramanand Ji Maharaj from Haridwar, Swami Govinddev Giri Ji Maharaj from Pune and Vimlendra Mohan Pratap Mishra from Ayodhya.
